Forecasting Impact-based Rainfall Alerts for South Africa

The basic module allows you to train the impact-based forecast process for rainfall used to inform local communities about forecast rainfall conditions & potential impacts in South Africa.

Developed by the South African Weather Service (SAWS) in partnership with the COMET Program, the 30-minute lesson invites you to take the role of a forecaster working a shift at the onset of a heavy rainfall event in South Africa, and helps you practice executing the steps of the impact-based forecast to alert susceptible areas.

Registration on the MetEd site is required for access to the free module.

Go to the module on the COMET website.
