Weather extremes can cause significant damage to human lives and livelihoods, negatively affecting agriculture, health and vital infrastructure.

In an online webinar, Dr Edward Pope, Expert Scientist from the UK Met Office unpacks how AFRICAP is using state-of-the-art climate models to explore the likelihood and severity of weather extremes in the present day, and assess potential changes in the future. He also discusses current work which is exploring how evidence can inform effective policies and practices for disaster risk management at national and local scales.

The event will close with a response from the seminar discussant (TBC) and a Q&A.
